The Howlpha

I started building this as a personal brief.

Something to track what was actually happening in San Diego's startup ecosystem. Who was growing. What was coming out of UCSD before it had a company name. Which companies nobody was talking about yet but would be.

I shared it when I thought someone would find it useful.

Now you can have it.

What's in it.

Every Thursday, a deeper read on what's moving in SD tech.

The dual-use companies building at the intersection of defense and commercial markets. What's coming out of UCSD and SDSU before it hits the news. Raises, hires, and exits worth paying attention to. An insider story the local press hasn't written yet. Events worth showing up to, with codes when we have them.

San Diego has battery companies, drone manufacturers, biotech that can't be built anywhere else, and UCSD spinouts going from lab to NASA contract in six months. Most of it stays quiet. Military contracts don't come with press releases. The Howlpha is the read for people who want to know before the room figures it out.

Who reads it.

Founders, operators, investors, and anyone tracking the SD ecosystem closely. If you build here, sell here, or just pay close attention to what this city is becoming, this is the Thursday read.

Thursdays. One read. Worth your time.

From the pack:

The territory you cover brings much enlightenment. Life is a team sport.
