🐺 10 San Diego events you should know about this week

Welcome, Social Coyote!

I was having lunch with someone who’s helped more than a few startups find their footing.

We were deep down a rabbit hole about what it takes to build something from scratch. The Social Coyote is kind of a startup, right? And knowing your “customer” is pretty critical. No ifs, ands, or howl yeahs about it.

So let me start this week with the most basic question of all time:

Why did you join The Social Coyote in the first place?

I’m running Customer Discovery 101 and reaching out to the pack: by text, email, postcard, at events, and maybe even tracking down a few coyotes prowling the canyons.

This is all part of a bigger quest. Help us build even better connections. And in true build-in-public fashion, I’d love to keep you in the loop as we go.

The plan is to start reaching out individually, but if you want to smash the reply button and get things started together, I’m all about it.

I first met Rose Bowlus while mentoring at the REC Innovation Center. She was offering guidance to early-stage founders: a cohort with big ideas and long to-do lists (legal usually somewhere around item #47).

Honestly? I’ve been there. More than once.

There was the NFT hoodie project. The Instagram photo printing thing. A giveaway site I still think about. We actually gave away a few PlayStations. I still wonder what Rose would’ve said about that one.

Since then, Rose has built and grown her own firm RBL here in San Diego. Her mission has stayed the same: helping founders get the foundation right from the start and supporting them as they grow.
