🐺 7 Events and 1 Thought on Curiosity

The San Diego events you should know about to get connected!

Welcome, Social Coyote!

Curiosity might be one of the most important traits we have as connectors.

Clearly you’re curious, you’ve opened the Social Coyote and want to know what’s happening in San Diego. Howl yeah, that’s curiosity!

The biggest risk we have is making an assumption about someone in the first few moments of meeting them.

I might point out that the most interesting thing about a person might be the secret hobby they rarely talk about.

I have this friend who’s a successful AI engineer (sorry, alchemist). We’ve gotten to know each other and spent time chatting at events and happy hours.

But until I asked at a Super Coyote coffee, “What class would you teach, and it can’t be related to your career?” did I learn that he’s a master fermenter!

Errrt, record stop. More please.

Turns out his garage is a lab making all kinds of things that ferment! Think: whiskey, kimchi, things like that.

So now, my one question has created several (maybe many) more questions, and we get to go so much deeper. The best part is, I know nearly nothing about this topic! But I’m ready to learn.

Maybe the lesson is obvious now, but we have a choice when we meet someone.

We can take the freeway, the most direct route, and ask “What do you do?” or we can see where the back roads take us and ask something more personal.

I think you know my choice.

And if we use this frame of mind in the wild, and assume everyone has a hidden passion, skill, or interest, we might just take an extremely fun detour and learn something new about kimchi.

What will we learn about someone this week? I’m not sure, but I’m curious to find out!

Super Coyote Notes

Sup Super ‘Yotes!!

We met a ton of new people last week, but a few of my most favorite takeaways came from Super Coyote coffee. Here are a few notes from the field:

  • Adam inspired our opening! When’s fermenting class?

  • New beginnings are not always chosen, they’re gifted to us.

  • Sometimes we build up our team and other times we reduce the team back to a pack of one.

  • We have someone building some impressive hardware for dogs!! I have several, wait many, questions!! Her story is awesome. I’ll share more when they’re ready.

PS, I’ve found the next location for Super Coyote coffee! You in?

What’s happening next week:

Wednesday, July 9

Thursday, July 10
