Howl yeah itโs Monday!

Getting connected can be like running a series of experiments. Did it work to dive right into my startup pitch at an event? Well, it was a 60-second pitch event, so nice work. But other times, it might take a bit longer to decide the right moment to bring up what you do. The real takeaway is to pay attention to the situation, how itโs evolving, and the type of hang youโre at.
The reality is, it might never be the right time. Donโt force it.
But let me tell you a secret. Iโve never been in a situation where, after asking a series of questions, my conversationalist didnโt ask me a few in return. Itโs reciprocity, human nature. And if we diligently listen while asking follow-ups, weโre ready to share just the right amount when it becomes our turn.
Itโs a little like dancing, a skill I'm not great at, but I know it when I see it.
You know what else Iโve noticed? Someone who doesnโt return a question usually isnโt the type of conversationalist worth our valuable time. Log the data. There are plenty more opportunities.
Another powerful experiment we can run is to test our one-liner: our crisp (and natural-feeling) way to share what we want to highlight. It could be a job, a favorite hobby, or just โwhat we do for fun.โ Then, pay attention to the reaction. Most often, we'll get immediate feedback.
Follow-up question? Nice!
Yawn? Back to the lab.
Run away screaming? Hmm, canโt help here. I havenโt been in this situation before.
The last thing Iโll add: our energy while presenting our information is extremely powerful. I ran an experiment by sharing a career choice that some might not find desirable. The energy I put behind it was reflected in the person I was talking to. When I felt lower energy or shy about it, their response tended to match.
The real trick is to run as many experiments as possible to find our style and what works well for us. The only way to do that is to leave the cave and step into a room full of peopleโand weโve got you covered there.
Howl yeah!
