The San Diego events you should know about to get connected!

Welcome to the Social Coyote!

All the howls this week are brought to you by RBL, local startup-friendly legal support for fundraising, hiring, contracts, and founder operations.

Welcome to the Howladays

I asked our San Diego tech community what they’re thankful for this year. Their answers say a lot about who we are as a city, and why it feels so special to build here.

Here’s what they shared:

Rylie Jennings, Outspoken Management Group:
“San Diego is special not just because of the beaches and weather, but because of the people who show up for innovation, collaboration, and new ideas.”

Hussein Yahfoufi, Eventship:
“I’m thankful for the people stepping out of their comfort zones to bring the community together in real life. It’s made San Diego feel a lot more connected.”

Fred Grier, JLL and Business San Diego:
“I’m grateful for the founders, investors, and startup folks who want to see SD succeed. We’re just getting started on what this community will bloom into.”

Pedro Arellano, Wallabi:
“I’m thankful for how consistently and generously people show up for each other. Our momentum is driven by support, intros, and open doors.”

Neal Bloom, Rising Tide Partners:
“I’m grateful for a startup community where you can toss an idea into the wind and instantly hear the whole pack howl back with support.”

When we read these together, a pattern emerges. San Diego’s superpower isn’t weather or coastline. It’s people who actually show up for each other.

Let’s see where we can meet in the wild this week.

What’s happening this week in San Diego:

Monday, December 1

Tuesday, December 2

Thursday, December 4

Friday, December 5

Sunday, December 7

I met Rose years ago at a founder event. She wasn’t there to pitch anything. She was just helping someone with their startup. No spotlight. No stage. Just helping.

That’s the thing about Rose. She shows up. She listens first. She tries to understand what you’re building before she tells you what to change. It feels less like legal work and more like someone joining your team for a moment.

When we talked recently, she said something that stuck with me: “There are a lot of great law firms here [in San Diego]. But if someone wants a smaller, more personal team, we might be their fit.”

It was humble. And honest. And exactly why founders trust her.

If you’re building something and want to talk through the early moves with people who genuinely care about the community they support, connect with Rose.

Or let me know, and I’ll make the intro.

Howl yeah, Rose.

What’s happening next week in San Diego:
