This is the free version of The Social Coyote. Howl yeah!

How do we know we’re becoming connected in a community? It’s not really that easy to quantify. But I’ve found a few simple indicators:
Recognizing people at non-recurring events
Remembering more names
Inside jokes—this one is big
A handshake transforming into a half hug or full hug
The ability to introduce people to each other
Knowing the event organizer
It takes longer to leave because you have to say goodbye to more people
This is not a comprehensive list, but each shows that you're getting closer to pack members in a community and developing deeper relationships.
Pay attention to these next time you’re at an event to gauge your “connectedness.” If you notice these indicators increasing, chances are, your hard work is paying off.

Are you attending the Techstars Anywhere Kickoff Party?
Techstars Anywhere is coming to San Diego in September to kick off their first week! The Anywhere program accepts founders from literally anywhere, but they have deep roots here in San Diego, led by local super coyote, Misti Cain. Howl yeah!
Come join us and meet the latest pack of Techstars Anywhere companies (shhh - they haven’t been announced yet). I’m really looking forward to attending! Meet up there?
Misti invited a few notable San Diegans for a fireside howl too:
Taylor Cavanah, Founder of PetDesk, which was acquired by PetVisor. Combined, they raised over $100m.
Jeremy Yamaguchi, Founder of LawnLove, which was acquired by LawnStarter. Together, they raised over $30m. Now, he’s the founder of Splash, which is taking over the home pool service space.
Misti wouldn’t spill the beans on who’s been accepted into the program (sorry, I tried). But she did share some industries and focuses that we're excited about:
Supply chain logistics
Legal and fintech compliance
Data risk analysis and security
AI sales intelligence
HR tech
Aftermarket auto tech
Video privacy and masking AI tech
If you’re a mentor or investor, come network with other top startup leaders, meet the newest Techstars Anywhere companies, and hear epic startup success stories too.
p.s. the event is almost full, please only RSVP if you can make it! See you there.

Whisker Wisdom:
People think focus means saying yes to the thing you've got to focus on. But that's not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are.
