This is the free pack version. Howl yeah! For even more fun and to help keep the coyote howling, check out: Super Coyote

Over the weekend, I listened to the latest episode of Fresh Brewed Tech: Stories about Brant Cooper, with Neal and guest Ashokoyote. They were talking about the legacy Brant Cooper left on our startup community.
He was a connector, innovator, ranter, and, in fact, was the reason these two coyotes on the mic connected. He helped create the sense of a smaller world.
There is such power in making connections.
Iโm all for making connections for everyone, Brant style. It helps the community tremendously. But how do you know someone has good intentions? Do you have a system for this?
This was the message I sent over to my friend Ashokoyote to get this super coyote connector's opinion. Iโve often struggled with how well to get to know someone before opening up the network.
Hereโs what he said:ย
You donโt have to try to be perfect, which will just paralyze you and prevent way more good connections than bad ones. Again, like startups, some failures are inevitable and part of the game. You donโt have to vet every single person. The community weeds out bad actors, and they have no power without community support.
What a wonderful response, the answer lies with the community. We collectively have each other's backs and this allows us to continue to make new connections and bring even more people together.
Iโm doubling down on community.

Together with DNAMIC
Sufyan, founder of DNAMIC, and I had a pretty great conversation about outsourcing development (his specialty) at Nealโs Founders Hike.
I was telling him about a friend who was building a startup in San Diego. His engineering team was in Vietnam. When he went to bed, they got to work.
Some nights went great, other times he woke up and his team had gone in the entirely wrong direction. He had lost a full day's worth of work and now his team was asleep.
He started staying up all night to accommodate the team, but ultimately moved to Vietnam. Not quite sure leaving San Diego was the solution.
Sufyan is no stranger to this type of problem and has used examples like this to build DNAMIC.
I asked him what other traps are out there when outsourcing development work.
Language Barrier: choose partners from countries that have comprehensive English teaching programs. Might seem obvious, but you are working with a team outside of the US.
Time zones: I wish I could go back in time and tell my friend about this one before he moved away. Then again, Vietnam sounds like a great place to visit. Iโll give him a call.
Solid internal QA systems: will help keep the outsourced team on track.
Encrypt your data: Use the same strict methods you follow internally.
Do your lawyers have experience in the outsourcing country?ย
This is not a comprehensive list, but itโs clear that thereโs a lot to consider when outsourcing a project.
Thanks for having the packs back Sufyan. Give him a ping if you have questions, or join him on the next hike.

Whisker Wisdom:
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
