Let me get a taste of that, Lincoln

Hard mode is better. The added difficulty is what makes something more unique, more interesting, and harder to copy.

Take a backyard barbecue.

Say we want 14 friends over. Easy mode is a mass email, "Hey coyote…", and some people come, because they like you and barbecues are fun.

But some never see it, and a few notice they got a "Hey coyote" blast.

Hard mode is texting each person to invite them by name. But most people won't bother, and fewer of their friends will show up because of it.

Hard mode is often only slightly harder, and the result is a lot better.

Same with this list. Easy mode is dumping 100 events in your inbox and calling it thorough. Dusts hands. Everyone is now more connected in San Diego.

Hard mode is applying a filter.

Would we actually go? Is it built for the people attending, or is it a funnel for whoever's organizing? Will there be potential to connect with cool people? And other things like that.

Typically, hard mode is better, but don't work too hard today.

It's Labor Day, after all.

Refer a Friend-ly Coyote 🐺

You're in on a secret: the best events for getting connected in San Diego.

Chances are you’re already forwarding cool events to your friends.

If you decide to invite them into our pack, we’ve got a black Coyote Cap set aside for you once you hit 7 referrals. I typically don’t mail these, so be prepared for a coffee or to link up at an event.

Into the Den:

Can you make a product so simple your grandma could use it?

This was one of my favorite stories from Constantine, founder of Self Inspection.

We recorded in a brand new spot: by the water in front of Superbloom.

This is certainly not the easy way to record a podcast, but it sure is fun. Hopefully it passes the grandma test in your ears.
