I was listening to an interview with Adam Neumann on Rick Rubin’s podcast this weekend.
WeWork aside for a second, they did one thing really well.
They put builders and their energy in the same room.
I’ve felt that before.
Back when I was working out of coworking spaces, the desk didn’t matter much. It was the people around it.
Especially being remote from HQ at the time, it gave me a sense of being part of something.
Lately, it’s mostly just me building our pack.
But I got a reminder of that energy again while supporting the latest Techstars San Diego cohort.
Watching a group come in fresh, main momentum and leave much more seasoned a few months later was easily the highlight.
We don’t actually need one big building. We already have it.
It looks like:
Coffee chats.
Founder mixers.
Running into someone you met last month.
Hearing what someone’s working on for the second time.
The city becomes the space. And the events become how we find each other.
