How to wake up in San Diego

Many of us live with a “what’s new” mindset, always looking for something we haven’t seen before or aiming to attend a new event with the goal of a new experience.

This method can be helpful to fill our need for newer connections and to continue to expand our packs. This is important; there are a lot of cool people to meet in San Diego.

It can be equally important to go a little deeper with the connections we currently have. One way to do this is by attending recurring events.

Familiar faces become more familiar, and conversations become easier. It still takes work, but when a face is recognizable, a paw shake can turn into a high five.

I’ve had this experience at the CTO Talks Series. When I started the Social Coyote, this was the first event I attended where I knew no one. I went because it sounded cool and I was eager to leave my comfort zone. It was hard at first, but after attending several events in the series, it almost feels like a pack meetup new.

We can create a very effective strategy with a balance between new and recurring events and a healthy sprinkle of serendipity. Do this, and we’re one step closer to being “connected” (however you define it).

Now let’s get out there and meet someone new this week!
