Kevin Kelly once talked about hitchhiking. Not because he misses it. But because it required something we’re not great at anymore.

Putting your thumb out.

It wasn’t just asking for a ride. It was giving someone else the chance to help.

Most of us don’t struggle because no one can help. We struggle because no one knows we need it.

We brute force, grind, and stay quiet.

Meanwhile, there are generous people all around us who would gladly offer a ride, if they knew where we were headed.

I’ve even had people ask how they can support our pack. And sometimes I don’t have a clear answer.

Thumb still in my pocket.

Receiving help can feel uncomfortable. Like admitting we don’t have it figured out.

But the driver gets something too. People like helping. It feels good to move someone forward.

So this week, when you’re out in the wild, try this:

Be clear about where you’re headed. And don’t be afraid to put your thumb out.

Sometimes, connection isn’t about who you meet. It’s about what you’re willing to share.

Howl yeah, it’s Monday.
