I like to tease LA and SF sometimes, which is easy, because San Diego is the best city on Earth.
SF says: "How much have you raised?"
LA says: "Who do you know who's famous?"
SD says: "What are you excited about lately?"
Every city's full of all kinds of people, but each one whispers something. I happen to love what we whisper.
This one's not for the pros. It's for anyone who wants to get out there a little more.
Take a scrap of paper, write down your two favorite questions, and put it in your pocket. Leave it there. It never has to come out.
Two things happen. Knowing it's there helps you relax. And you've already got something you're genuinely curious about, so when you bring it up, there's real energy behind it.
I like having a question ready, just in case. Maybe it's a fear of silence (working on it), but it also helps me get to know who someone is, not just what they do.
I care about what you do. I just care more about who you are.
