We were watching a documentary about how dogs evolved from wolves.
There was one line I can’t get out of my head.
“It wasn’t survival of the fittest, but survival of the friendliest.”
As humans became the apex predator, we left a lot behind. Food, scraps, bones.
Wolves started to stick around.
Aggressive wolves were considered a threat. The friendlier ones were invited closer.
Over time, these traits compound. Eventually, you get the golden retriever.
Probably the happiest creature on the planet.
I kept thinking about that at March Mingle.
You see a lot of different approaches at events like that. Some people lead with curiosity. Others lead with their pitch.
One approach tends to open the door. The other tries to walk right through it.
We’re all building something: a company, a career, or a community. And we’re doing it in the same rooms.
The approach matters in San Diego.
Be curious about what others are building, share what you’re working on too, and let’s make introductions when they make sense.
